It's just like playing chess, if you are not able to predict the next move by the opponent, you will end up being screwed. And that is what happens to all the lives manipulated by KIRA. L is being killed in a rather unfair way, because a Shinigami is not supposed to help the death note holder. But this time it does.
Near and Mello comes into the scene but really doesn't make that much an impact as L, although in the end they triumph with their powers combined.
Having mixed feelings here. A bit sad because I cannot anticipate anymore what is going to happen. A bit relieved because there are absolutely no fillers for Death Note. That's how an anime should be. Or it might spoil the rhythm of the story.
Okay, I'm going to grab the last episode of the manga just to catch a glimpse how different it was from the anime.
