At first, I was thinking having to pool out a sum of money again for those usual practical lessons after my test. Because I was worst during the pre-circuit lessons. My instructor was yelling at such high frequency that the rest of the trainees seemed to be stunned in their vehicles when waiting for their turns behind me. Hit a few kerbs and was further demoralised and as the clock ticked away to 9am, I was trying hard to convince myself that the instructor was using reverse phychology on me.
And so I walked up to the room to select my test route. A girl was there explaining why she did so badly on the road during the TP. "Oh, I don't know why the person turn back and walk on the pedestrian crossing. Oh, because there was a car in front of me and I can't see the road well. Oh, because the car brake was rather poor.", she countered the tester time and again. I was just beside her and I would definitely fail her even if she was good. Yah blame the car some more. Yes, the tester finally told her," You go back and book more practical lessons."
Then was my turn to pick a test route. Wow, I managed to pick one easy one. Turn one round to Teck Whye, make the standard U-turn at the main road, and back to BBDC. I've been practising that almost every lesson~. The test coordinator told us to treat this as another practical lesson. And this advice really helped.
Circuit Test: Was doing well and really liked the moment. Because usually when I drive, my instructor would be giving me instructions all the way. And now, I'm by myself. But nearly suicided at the reverse parking. Failed to turn in the parking lot the first time, and was really surprised why I missed the marking. Tried another time, failed. Kerb was just behind me. Did another time and I managed to squeeze the lot. Phew.. I knew the tester was thinking," Next better player, hit the kerb man.." The rest of the obstacles were quite smooth and I realised alot of vehicles were very courteous to me, due to the double L plate I'm having.
Road Test: When I got on the road, I was really delighted as I knew my circuit really sucked. It was 9.30am and there wasn't many cars out there. Wow, I could change lane easily unlike my usual practical lessons at night, where my changing lane would definitely result in a reprimand from the instructor. It was really smooth and I never realised I was having a test until some of my secondary sch juniors were crossing the traffic lights and were looking and pointing at me as if I was some vegetable in a car. Maybe it's the double L plate again.
Evaluation: Tester ticked a few more errors in the evaluation form and said,"Vertical parking very poor. First time TP?". "Yes". "You got to improve in your driving." I was handed the form and first thing I saw was the 18 points. Double checked and it was actually a pass. I was going to ask him to do a 'real' evaluation on me, but upon seeing the results I was telling myself better not. In case he said, "Oh forgot to deduct 2 more points." then I would definitely would sign up as a japanese kamikaze aviator for my next job. 10 points deducted from parking. As I awaited for the video clip on accidents, realised more girls than guys (I'm not being sexist, this is statistics) actually passed.
Yes. I'm rather more relieved than ecstatic. No more tiring night driving lessons after work. No more money gone on practicals. And no more mental stress. But comes more responsibility. And during the first day I got my temp licence, I lost it. Champion. Got to wait for the real one.
