FAT COWBOY

Just some more extracts from Howard Lyman's "Mad Cowboy", a book not only about cow, but about how to improve one's diet as well. Really good information given by this President of Earthsave International.

The best way to avoid a high-fat diet is to abstain from all animal products. "Extra-lean" ground beef provides about 54% of its calories in the form of fat. 51% of the calories of a roasted chicken come from fat, as do 40% of the calories of salmon. By contrast, less than 1% of the calories of a potato come from fat. As long as you don't consume the potato in the form of french fries (which can increase it's fat content by more than two hundread times!), or top the potato with cheese, butter, or sour cream, it's an excellent low-fat food. Steamed or baked, topped with ketchup (look for organic brands, made without white sugar) or salsa or parsley or low-fat mushroom sauce or eaten plain, potatoes are a fine choice if you're watching your waistlines. In place of animal foods, choose any complex carbohydrates - fruits, vegetables, grains or beans - and they will help make you or keep you slim. Salads are good choices, as long as you don't pour high-fat dressing on them.
Eating a low-fat diet also means avoiding or limiting your intake of vegetable oils, margarine, nuts, seeds, olives, and avocados. Even a vegan diet may not hlep you lose weight, or lower your blood cholesterol levels, if you replace meat with large helpings of peanut butter, fried vegetables, white bread smothered in margarine, pasta soaked in olive oil, doughnuts, and potato chips.

MAD COWBOY

This is a book on Howard Lyman, who used to be a cattle rancher, transforming his organic farm to one which produces tonnes of beef, in order to make more money. But the more cattle he owned, the more crop(and sometimes cattle themselves) he had to produce to feed them, and this led to the chemical agriculture trend during then to satisfy the soil with artificial fertilizers so that the ultimate goal could be reached: to yield the most beef = money within the shortest time.
But he soon realised that he worked day and night in the farm just to make ends meet, and did not profit much, although the cattle did manifest themselves, and so many processes are needed to keep the new farm system going.
Destruction of natural rainforest, extinction of wildlife species, overgrazing, water pollution and depletion, desertification and global warming are just some of the harmful effects to mother earth contributed by the billions of innocent cattle, and one day to be disected by the fork and knife.
Lyman also blasts through the propaganda of beef and dairy interests - and the government agencies that protect them - to expose an animal-based diet as the primary cause of cancer, heart disease, and obesity in this country. Not to mention the Mad Cow Disease outbreak.

"Howard Lyman is fighting not only for our health but for our nation's sanity as well. He challenges not only mad cows, but a mad system" - Studs Terkel

"Digests the facts in Mad Cowboy, and you may never look at prime rib in the same way again." - Dave Bowman, The Seattle Times

"If you want your grandchildren to live in a chemical free environment, and able to see animals and lakes in their generation, read this book." - guntaobu (anti -http://www.collegesaga.com/ )

I lost my shoes again

Nahia.. I just can't stand it.
My shoes are gone again!~ ARRRGHHHH!~! Damn it@~

I'm not going to curse the person who is wearing my shoes now, but I seriously hope he will come to my house to get a new pair someday, so I can give him an early angpow. Catching people redhanded are the most satisfying thing of all.

Let's take a look at my shoes. If anyone saw it around, please let me know. Try to stalk the person to his or her house, give me the address, and I will give an angpow to you too. Just like how everyone writes," Please return me my cat. I love it so much." and posts them beside lifts to get attention, I think I will post one on my void deck.

Look at the list of shoes I have lost over the past few years
1) Diadora soccer boots (lost when hanging outside to dry)
2) Don't know what brand shoes (lost when I thought nobody wanted the rundown shoes)
3) Converse shoes (lost in my army bunk)
4) Gola Shoes (found it on the 24th floor, took it back, and it was gone again a week later!)

Latest updates: My mum actually keep my shoes!!! Hohoho!

9863 days in this world

Wow.. I have lived for 9863 days.. a few more weeks and I will live for 10,000 days!
Didn't really wish for much on my birthday, just hope that everything is fine with my family, friends and I.

Yesterday went to Whatever.com.sg cafe for a bite. Have a taste of the western food there.. I can say there are really quite healthy food over there. The nice thing is the ambience, where you can sit and in the bookstore, read what you like and enjoy your meal there. The books also offer a wide variety, from fiction stories to books on meditation, astrology, new age, religion, sexuality etc..

Look who came to visit me today... the famous lamer..
