Fail my Theory Test

wALAO.. fAILED my final theory test..
sianz.. I have to pour out 6 bucks for this computerized test.. and book again

I was quite confident can pass, although the questions asked seem a bit alien to me..
Well I did study for it(the whole of yesterday night), but when I saw the big FAIL word on the screen, I was disappointed. Nevermind that BBDC is just a road away from my house, it's just the hassle of having to repeat a test. And to study for it~

Haha, but I would leave all the complaints I had during my learning car days to a later post, most likely after I have passed everything. Coz things are better cursed after you don't have the need to repeat that thing, or it may come back to haunt you.

There was a guy beside me, he was 5 min late. He started the test once he got on the seat and 10 min later he left. I took a peek on his screen. PASS

Then when I failed, the guy on my right was staring into the cruel words on my screen. He seemed shocked. But I am quite sure he can pass, coz he even took the trouble to look at all the questions again, in a different language. Good one there.

Nevermind, but guys please dun spread around that I have failed. It's supposed to be a secret.

Graduation

Recently, I just received a letter from University of Newcastle, inviting me to attend my graduation ceremony. At last, the long awaited moment has come. MY 1.5 years of exhaustive diligence has finally bore fruit. Yes, I'm rewarded a piece of paper. With some wordings on it. And a stamp maybe. And a signature by an Aussie.
Now I'm still wondering why I was "conned" or rather convinced into applying for this course as my friends(of course we became classmates) psychoed me saying," Hey come on lah, this course so cheapo, some more with our powers combine, we can complete our assignments easily with half our efforts." In the end, I seemed to have put in twice the effort.
Haha, but I still want to thank the guys for bringing me to such a great challenge; work and study at the same time really is not my piece of cake. I suck at time management, and being a slacker really "contributes" to the the suckiness.
But I realised I got great fighting spirit along the way. I could sacrifice my sleep and toiled through day and night just to finish an assignment, and never even thought of giving up.
Other than complimenting myself, I owe my success to this beloved laptop which I'm using now. Although it has arrived late, but the final months of projects could not be completed without this Dell system. I used to work with it for days and it never complained, and it never exploded like some Dell did.
Of course, I had to thank all my loved ones for giving me the patience and understanding I needed during this "bacheloring" period, and I must admit my temper could not be worse when assignments kept piling in with time limits comparable to a Mario game.

Here's what the letter says:
Graduation Package - $250 ($100 refundable when you return the academic dress).
Additional guest ticket for graduation ceremony - $25 each
Alumni Dinner - $40
Guest ticket for Alumni Dinner - $60 each.

I don't seem excited at all. And the more I look at the price, I feel like sending the "Just mail me the cert" form. Yah yah, they say once in a lifetime, but I might really puke to see myself in that dress with square top cap(or helmet? coz it looks heavy).
For the Alumni Dinner, I would be killing myself if I went for that. Firstly, all the classmates I knew where the few who kindly recommended me this course. I don't remember talking to anyone else in the campus. Oh, we did talk to the security guard to convince him to let us open the gate to slot in our late submissions of assignments. Secondly, going to a dinner at $40, I would rather we classmates gather somewhere for a dinner. Definitely ample times cheaper. Lastly, I don't think they will provide vegetarian food.

ARSE DAY

Fierce head to head matches. In the end, both Arsenal and Chelsea come out 1-0 winners over Man United and Liverpool respectively.

When will another week be packed with 2x2 top team matches? Even Tiger Woods wants to watch a bigger ball go into a bigger hole(net to be exact). But he will be thinking," Drogba's birdie is really inspirational. As for Adebayor's goal, I can putt that in with my 4-yarder. No problem about that."

Sianz monday is here....

Happiness

HAHAAHAHAAHAH....
Oopss sorry i was just watching the below video where they tok about the 麦当劳 part..
super lame and ho chio lor.. okok lah i know i'm outdated as this CDPRO2 was already out since 麦当劳 got wireless.. but so? it's still funny mah.. (BTW what is ATOS?)

I was supposed to be sick. 2 days with a blocked nose and feeling feverish. Really don't want to do anything and just lie on the bed. But I'm so used to sleeping late and utilize my time going online, I would hate myself if I fell asleep early any day. I was nuaring for so long I din even bother to post any blog. But at last, I have picked myself up again! Hoho I'm so proud of my determination~

Okay, straight to the topic. Last saturday, went to a "purification" class, I have come to realize that singaporeans are still relatively unhappy about the current life. Proven by Happy Planet Index, http://www.happyplanetindex.org/list.htm.

We were ranked 131/178 countries. Worst in Asia. So I wondered "How come?". People in other countries were so yearning to live in this clean and green city where ironically buildings are more than trees, if you bothered to count.

High standard of living is everywhere in Singapore, but the stress level also heightens as well. Everyday when I go to work, people are complaining about the sucky work(including me). The working society has become so competitive that almost everyone senses they will be struggling if they keep on earning peanuts.

Children go to school to compete with schoolmates their academic results, and sometimes their pokemon levels. Anything we youngsters are doing, we seem to be heading to a situation where the fittest gets recognition.

I don't want to blame some of my friends, but when we sometimes play table soccer, we all can get quite stressed up. Not to mention soccer we play at basketball courts. I also tend to try too hard to win games which should just be enjoyable to everyone.

Oh.. what I mean is.. plan what we are going to do with our lives oops if i didn't strike this off, people will surely question me whether I am doing it myself.

Anyway, what I mean is simple, enjoy the times we are having with family and friends and all the closed ones.. like Vanuatu (No.1 :-) country). I would love to live there, provided I can bring along my loved ones, my laptop(there can online anot?), my bed, my handphone, my.. aiya I think I will stay in this green city with green rubbish bins (RANKED 131 :-( ) where all the buildings are to be blamed for over-grazing. Wonder 20 years down the road, will we have foreign artists to come to draw artificial trees to maintain the "green" image?

DIET FOR A NEW WORLD

Recently I came to know of a book that was highly recommended for people who wanted to help make the world a better place. Some people will be skeptical enough to say,"This world no hope liao lah". I was such a person before. But now, I believe in doing my own tiny part for the world would be enough to help a bit, even if it was solving a piece of a trillion pieces jigsaw puzzle.

And I finally found the book at Kinokuniya Book Store. Hmm.. still in the midst of enjoying the book, but maybe I will share some foreword found in the book...

The social, ecological and economic consequences, as we Americans turn away from animal food products, are equally remarkable. We find that the grain we previously fed to fatten livestock can now feed five times the U.S population; so we have become able to alleviate malnutrition and hunger on a worldwide scale.
The great forests of the world, that we have been decimating for grazing purposes(that was, we discover, the major cause of deforestation), begin to grow again. Oxygen-producing trees are no longer sacrificed for cholesterol-producing steaks.
The water crisis eases. As we stop raising and grinding up cattle for hamburgers, we discover that ranching and farm factories has been the major drain on our water resources. The amount now available for irrigation and hydroelectric power doubles. Meanwhile, the change in diet frees over 90% of the fossil fuel previously used to produce food.
A less obvious effect of our meat-free diet, but perhaps more telling on the deep psychological level, is the release it brings from the guilt and burden of cruelty inflected on other species. Only a few of us had been able to face directly the obscene conditions we inflicted on animals in our fam factories and modern slaughter houses; but most of us knew on some level that they entailed a sufffering that was too much to "stomach".

John Robbins
------------------

In the book, it spoke of one religious leader who deemed animals as creatures who don't deserve any sort of empathy.
"Their cries should not arouse unreasonable compassion any more than to red-hot metals undergoing the blows of a hammer, seeds spoiling underground, branches crackling when they are pruned, grain thats is surrendered to the harvester, wheat being ground by the milling machine."

Compare this to the attitude of Albert Schweitzer, who believed that....

"Any religion which is not based on a respect for life is not a true religion.. Until he extends his circle of compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace."

GREAT BOOK~
